My story

Meet Simba! 🦁He is clearly as large and ferocious as the lion, and his chihuahua bark sounds just like a loud roar! This little man loves to spend time outside, whether that is going for a nice walk, or just sitting on the patio with you. When he is content with his play time, he would be more than happy to be a lazy couch potato with you. 🐕 Being the ferocious lion he is, he may need some help being tamed while at the vet. He is not a happy camper while getting his nails trimmed, and his lion side truly comes out. With a little extra relaxation beforehand, he should be able to snooze through his appointment in no time. He has lived with other dogs in the past, and would likely do well with other dogs in the future. With some time and patience allowing him to settle in, he may be a great fit for your home! He is excited to meet his new family, and cannot wait to meet you! 💛 Ready to Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available dogs in the shelter. (Dogs in foster care are not available for in-person visits.) #2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD** If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the dog first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a dog for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours. **Holds are not available for puppies under six months, on Saturdays, or during adoption events. -------------------------------------------- All adult dog adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies and kennel cough vaccinations - heartworm test -current parvo/distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -microchip implanted & registered to adopter -treatment of fleas & ticks -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days of adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your pet.
