My story

I have lived with cats.I am a shy older gentleman, looking for the perfect forever home!I'm an independent kitty who likes to do my own thing.I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.I'm sensitive and shy. I'll need extra help from you.I am looking for a home with a patient person.I will flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home.Stevie tolerates attention and petting but appears fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents. Due to the behavior shown, he may not be a great fit for young children. Any home with older children prepared to adopt this cat should conduct a thorough interaction and endeavor to monitor this cat around their children to prevent these behaviors from being reinforced.My foster writes: Stevie is a friendly, kind older cat who reveals his personality slowly. After a week of earning his trust with slow blinks and personal space, he quickly became more curious and loving, sweetly chirping and meowing every time I walked through the door to say hi. Before long, he started reading accepting head pats and pets. Chin scritches are his favorite! Stevie's talent is getting on his hind legs to rub his cheek and chin into your hand for scritches, and I love when he arches his back when I pet him. He likes to gently play, tap-tapping at the mouse toy until he grabs it with his mouth. He's a silly boy - one time he spooked himself when he bumped into a foam roller.
