My story

Rocky arrived at Frosted Faces Foundation on May 3 after being surrendered to Long Beach Animal Services. Though it was a tough goodbye, shelter staff made it clear he was something special. Everyone who met him described him as sweet, affectionate, and full of life. A kind volunteer gave him a freedom ride, and Rocky has been winning hearts ever since. At 11 years old and 41 pounds, Rocky is the perfect blend of playful energy and steady companionship. He is affectionate, eager to connect, and happiest when he is close to his people. Sit down for a moment and you will likely find him leaning against your legs, soaking up the moment with his full-body cuddles. He knows basic cues like “sit” and “shake,” takes treats gently, and has great manners all around. Rocky is active and fun-loving without being over the top. He joins the Frosted Faces Sunday hike crew and can easily do 3 or more miles, keeping pace with a joyful, determined stride. He has even been paddleboarding, balancing like a natural, hopping back on after swims, and calmly enjoying the ride. His adventurous spirit is matched by his ability to settle and relax when the day winds down. During his two-week Frosted Fling in a foster home, Rocky showed just how adaptable and intelligent he is. His Fling host shared that he is smart, eager to learn, and picked up new training cues quickly. He loved his walks, explored new environments with curiosity, and was friendly with everyone he met. He was left home with another dog for a few hours and calmly relaxed on the couch while his person was away. Rocky does well with other dogs, passed his cat test, and enjoys making new human friends. Whether you are looking for a hiking companion, a loyal sidekick for outdoor adventures, or a calm and affectionate presence at home, Rocky has the versatility and personality to fit right in.
