You’ll feel him before you see him—a heavy stare from the shadows, the sense that something ancient and judgmental is nearby. Then, from the corner of the room, he appears: Bernard. A scruffy brown and black tabby who looks like he crawled out of a haunted portrait. He watches. Always. His eyes follow you like he’s reading your thoughts... and probably critiquing them. Bernard doesn’t just want your attention—he requires it. He’ll talk to you in low, raspy meows that sound more like warnings than conversation. Pet him, and he purrs like thunder. Stop too soon, and he’ll let you know—with a stare that says, “You’ve made a mistake.” If you're brave enough to adopt Bernard, know this: he’s not just a cat. He’s a presence. And he’s already watching. Bernard would be fine with dogs as long as he is given slow intros. Meet and greet/adoption appointments are highly recommended to ensure the animal you are interested in is currently at the shelter. Please call or e-mail the shelter to set up an appointment to meet and adopt! DON'T FORGET! Cats often do better with a friend! All our cats and kittens have an "Adopt one and the 2nd at half the adoption fee!" bonus!!! Our kitten/cat adoption fees vary on age, special needs, lonely heart status (cats that have been with us 6+ months), and for our senior to seniors program. Our adoption fees include the following: all of our cats/kittens are current on vaccinations (FVRCP series and Rabies if over 3 months of age) at the point of adoption, dewormed, tested for Feline Leukemia (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), treated for fleas/ticks/earmites in addition to being spayed or neutered once the cat reaches 2 lbs in weight. All cats and kittens adopted from the shelter are microchipped. Adoption fees may vary in special circumstances. Because we are on a busy street, we require that all cats leaving the shelter be in a carrier. All pets are up for adoption until an approved application is processed and their adoption fee is paid.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Bernard, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
