Meet Poochie! A young man recently reached out to us for help with his family’s 14-year-old dog, Poochie. Poochie had been with the family since he was a puppy—growing up alongside the young man, who was just a child at the time. Sadly, over the years, Poochie hadn’t received the care he deserved, and after the passing of the young man’s grandparents, his situation worsened. He was living outdoors in a crate, hadn’t seen a vet in over two years, and was in need of grooming and attention. Now an adult with a job and the ability to help, the young man was determined to give Poochie the love and comfort he deserved in his senior years. On June 5th, we welcomed Poochie as a Frosted Face. Shortly after arriving, Poochie was chosen for a two-week Frosted Fling by a devoted volunteer and previous adopter. He thrived with the care and attention he received, and his fling was extended to a month. His Fling Mom reports: "Poochie is a super sweet, snuggly boy. He became quite comfortable in the house and with my other dogs. He was very calm and easy going with about treats and food One of my dogs stuck her tongue in Poochie's food bowl while he was eating, and there was no reaction! Poochie is a playful little guy. He loved to dig through the toy box and find something to play with. He played tug with my 70lb dog., too! Poochie would always be excited to go on a walk and then slow down halfway through. So the walks were short, but he enjoyed them. Poochie did well at home when I was at work. I had a crate in a door way, so he could move around freely in a confined space. In the beginning he would move the crate. I would find him laying on a bed in the family room. As he got used to things, he stopped moving the crate, and he did fine. He did bark a little, but probably because my dogs would bark when I would leave. But it did not last long. Poochie did great with everyone we met and everywhere I took him. We visited my mom at her nursing home, and he met some other people. We shopped at a pet store. He went for a swim and did great. Fireworks didn't bother him. Poochie rode perfectly in the car. Poochie found his favorite bed and will curl up there in the evening. I even let him sleep there over night since he looked so comfortable. He did great and didn’t move until I let the dogs out the next morning. Poochie is a great little guy!! Please consider him or for your forever pup." Poochie has spent 14 years being loyal and loving—now he deserves the same in return. He’s ready to live out his golden years as a cherished family member. Could you be the one to give him that gift?
