My story

"Grits – A Big Softie with a Bigger Heart" At 10 years old and 110 lbs, Grits is the definition of a gentle giant. With his calm, steady presence, he’s the perfect laid-back companion. Whether he’s sunbathing in the yard or snoozing at your feet while you relax on the couch, Grits just wants to be close to his people. He’s lived peacefully with other dogs and even cats—his easygoing personality and lack of prey drive make him a lovely match for a quiet home. Grits greets new people with soft eyes and a gentle wag, never in a rush, always composed. These days, his pace is a little slower, and he has some arthritis in his back legs. But he still manages a few stairs, like the four leading into his foster home. When it’s time for a car ride, he’ll place his front paws up to help—you just need to give him a boost for the rest. Belly rubs, treats, and the comfort of being near his humans are his favorite things.
